Introduction
Creative impulse is a commercial offshoot of a jointly funded, research
project, based at the University of Bristol with the backing of the
following partners:
- Aardman Animations
- Avid / Softimage
- Framestore
- Mark Roberts Motion Control
- The D.T.I.
- Panavision
The goal of the project was to perform research into
motion control and pre-visulization for the UK film industry. Software
has been produced which enables highly accurate motion control shots
to be planned and then performed. This product integrates motion
control into any mainstream 3D Animation & Modelling package
(currently Softimage XSI and Mark Roberts Flair software), allowing a
previously impossible level of on and offline control of rig cameras
which saves time & money and increases creative freedom to develop
very original shots. Below is a screen shot of a virtual image of the
Mark Roberts Milo Rig within Softimage XSI.
